The macfixer has been a Beta tester for MacSpeech Dictate and Dragon Dicate using iListen and now Dragon Dictate for many years. He has followed the Speech Recognition Application Process as it has evolved on the Mac in this time.

Dragon Dictate is a very easy to use Application to get the words you speak into your Intel Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.

How do I know if I have an Intel Mac?

Go to the Apple menu, About This Mac, it will state text similar to this “2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon"; the important word is Intel; or it may say “1.33 GHz PPC G4" if your Mac has a PowerPC Processor.

You must have a Mac with an Intel Processor to run Dragon Dictate.

Dragon Dictate with Revolabs USB Wireless Microphone.

This version of Dragon Dictate comes with the Plantronics 400 DSP digitally-enhanced foldable stereo headset with full range stereo sound. The foldable design allows for easy storage and transport. Listen to your CDs, DVDs, or MP3 files. Its noise canceling microphone enhances speech accuracy.

The TalkPro Xpress has a high quality microphone with excellent noise suppression and plenty of gain so that Dragon Dictate receives a nice strong signal. The TalkPro Xpress headset features a very flexible adjustable boom. The ear cushion and headband are designed for long wearing comfort.

The Revolab xTag Wireless Microphone is an excellent wireless microphone. In tests, the Revolab xTag performed almost as good as our best-rated microphones. It is a lapel style microphone, those with softer voices may have more difficulty obtaining good accuracy in noisier environments.
